Saariselka
- Paradise on cross-country skis

Right from the Hotel Laanihovi's doorstep opens 160 kilometers of cross-country ski trails groomed for both traditional style and skating style skiing. Good part of the trails are lighted for night skiing. Along the trails the skier finds stopping shelters, campfire spots and coffee shops. Maps available

Daily grooming of the ski trails begins 8.00 am. First the lighted trails, then the rest. Trail conditions information updates available from reception.

Trails are well marked. At crossing are signs and maps. Also level of difficulty indicated by colours.

Weather conditions can change rapidly in wilderness. Always use caution and be prepared. Extra clothes and food, a map, a compass, a knife and matches in a day bag can make the difference if a blinding snow storm takes the skier by surprise. Don't leave the marked trails and if you get lost, find a shelter and build a fire before you get too tired and cold. Keep yourself warm by moving around.
